PRESENTATION: “Mail Security and Suspicious Packages” - The latest information from the USPS will be presented as it pertains to suspicious mail. This information will assist mail managers with protecting their employees, customers, and mail center.

Speaker:  Delano Watkins, USPS Postal Inspector - Mr. Watkins has been a Postal Inspector for 7 years in the Washington Division. He currently serves on the Dangerous Mail Investigation Team. Delano responds to suspicious packages within postal facilities which include suspicious substances, mail threats, and buzzing and ticking packages.

PRESENTATION: Is Mail Screening Relevant in the age of E-mail, Twitter, and Electronic Communications?” This presentation reviews the advent and current state of mail screening processes and technology and discusses how the transition to electronic communications has impacted the way we view and react to mail borne risk. We will also focus on steps mailroom managers can take to assure their facilities are doing everything necessary to safeguard the mail-stream, their clients and personnel.

Speaker:  Marshall K. James, SoBran, Inc. - Mr. James is the Executive Technical and Training Advisor for SoBran. Prior to joining SoBran Keith spent 20 years in the Navy where he specialized in the deployment and operation of long range radar, communications, and remote sensors in counter narco-terrrorism environments. Upon joining SoBran he focused on the development and operation of systems designed to protect government and commercial clients from mail borne chemical, radiological, nuclear, biological, and explosive threats. Today he is expanding his focus to include the development of physical security assessment and application and continuity of operations strategies designed to keep critical lines of communication open following terrorist attack or natural disasters.
